PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a treatment procedure in which a person's own blood is drawn, processed and injected into the scalp. It is a concentration of plasma with platelets. This concentrate of platelets which is extracted from a patient's own blood is injected into the scalp to promote hair growth. PRP therapy has been used since 1980s, and is an effective method to address problems such as injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and allows natural healing of damaged tissues.
What are the procedures of PRP treatment?
PRP is a three-step medical procedure. Before the treatment, the doctor asks details about your medical health history, recent surgeries, any medications taken and detailed history of hair loss condition. Your doctor may suggest you to undergo various medical tests. Depending upon the overall health condition of the patient and the test results, it is determined whether the person is eligible or not for PRP treatment.
Step 1- A blood sample is collected in 3 test tubes the test tubes are placed in a centrifuge, once the centrifugation is over the blood is divided into three separate layers like platelet- poor plasma, platelet-rich plasma and red blood cells.
Step 2- At this stage, Platelet-rich plasma is recovered into a syringe and it is injected into the area where scalp needs restoration. We combine micro-needling along with PRP treatment to procure the optimum results and better spread of the PRP on the scalp.
